Conservation Commission Meeting

May 19, 2016

The meeting of the Conservation Commission was called to order by John Bozak at the Martha Sawyer Library at 6:30 p.m. Those in attendance were: John, Ruth Gutman, George Main, Sandy Hutchinson, and Guest, Lee Burnett from Forest Works!

It was agreed that Maine’s Wildlife Action Plan, as presented by Amanda Shearin, from IFW Dept., would be helpful in determining site usage.  She can be reached at (amanda.f.shearin@maine.gov)

We reviewed town owned properties and described the unique aspects of many.  The  Hebo Hybo area presents several interesting opportunities for investigation.  It was also suggested that we look at the frontage pieces along the Salmon Falls River.

John and George attended May Cleanup day on May 7th as our representatives..

Work day is scheduled for Sat., June 4th at Gully Oven.

John is scheduled to meet with the selectmen on June 16th to discuss our goals.

A workshop on Invasive Naiad is scheduled June 22nd from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public. A paddle will follow on June 29th on North East Pond.

Lee spoke with us about Town Forests and how best to go about designating such areas.

The next meeting is June 16th.

            Respectfully submitted, Sandy Hutchinson
