Dear Lebanon Friends and Neighbors; Volunteers with the Lebanon Rescue Department are working with the family of 10 year old Emily Malewitz on raising funds for the family while they continue to be at Maine Medical Center with Emily. Emily was the 10 year old who had the tree come crashing down onto her while she was camping at the Flat Rock Family Resort in Lebanon. The family has had great support from the hospital, but being out of work and just the costs have been adding up. We have received over a hundred calls from people offering assistance and wanting to set something up. We have rescue personnel going to be with the family and helping in anyway that we can at the hospital. We are asking that anyone who wants to make a donation send it to: Lebanon Rescue Department Attn: Emily Fund 323 Depot Road Lebanon, Maine 04027 You can make the check out to: Peter Malewitz or Lebanon Rescue and send it to the above address. Cash donations can also be dropped off at Trains Quick Stop or call Assistant Chief Jason Cole at (207) 608-5615.
We will be bringing the donations daily to the family to help with the costs. Even a $5.00 would help if we could get several people to donate. Emily is expected to be in the hospital for several weeks. Todays update on Emily: Emily underwent three hours of surgery today basically cleaning up inside the area that was effected and contiuing to monitor her injuries. She is on a respirator and the family has been advised that she should make a full recovery, but it will probably be a slow process. Her condition at last check was still listed as critical. During tragic times like this, communities come together and we are hoping to be able to help them in a huge way. |
