Each year, the Lebanon Rescue Department responds to hundreds of calls where the property owners do not have their street numbers properly displayed. During serious medical emergencies, seconds count and being able to quickly identify the correct house could help save someones life.

Statistics show that the survivability of someone suffering a stroke or heart attack diminish substantially in the first hour after the event.

When you need 911 response service.. You need it Fast!, You need It Immediately.

You do not want to be the next person to tell the story about how they watched as the emergency ambulance or firetruck went back and forth, up and down the street looking for the house number, until it was flagged down by someone standing in the street!

Statistics also show that only 3 of every 10 homes have house numbers adequate for reading at night. These house number address signs are very readable at night and will help responders find your house or business quickly.

On our rural roads and dark streets, it is often hard to see numbers stenciled on a mailbox, and that is why we recommend using a reflective street sign with large numbers.

Not only will it help the ambulance crew find you, it will help the police and fire departments, Postal Service, visiting friends and delivery people.

The Lebanon Rescue Corporation is selling these high quality and highly visible street signs as a fundraiser. For $15.00 you get your choice of blue or green reflective signs with 4" reflective letters. The rescue volunteers will install the signs for free to your posts. The proceeds from the fundraiser will be used for the rescue's community education programs and helping families that suffer tragedies throughout the year.

If you would like to purchase a reflective address sign, you can visit the Lebanon Rescue website at www.lebanonrescue.com or the Town of Lebanon website at www.lebanon-me.org. You can also contact us at (207) 608-5615.  Sign forms will also be available at the Lebanon Town Hall.

"Our goal is to get every house to put up their street number so emergency crews can find them during an emergency. We offer these signs at almost our cost so that residents have an option thats reasonable and the rescue volunteers will go to your house and install them on your post for you. The responders want to be able to help you and find you in an emergency. This has been a large concern over the past few years, we have waisted several  minutes driving up and down roads looking for the correct house. When someone really needs us, it is very frustrating for the responders to keep searching the area for the house. We do not care if you get these signs from us or another reflective sign, as long as you put the number up so we can see it day or night, thats all we are trying to accomplish." Chief Samantha Cole added.

The signs are available to people from any community. We hope to be able to work with other towns in getting similiar programs set up, some already have programs.

Anyone with additional questions can contact the Rescue Department at (207) 608-5615.

Remember, every second counts - put up your street number today!
